Fond du Lac 2-year-old dragged 70-feet under car

A 2-year-old girl was transported to hospital for children in Milwaukee after being hit and then dragged by a car Wednesday morning about 70 meter.

The accident happened around 10:15 in the mother and child were crossing the second street on Main Street. Heather Konen, 34, of Fond du Lac, was in the crosswalk with his daughter, Erin Konen of Fond du Lac, when they were hit by a car, said Captain Steve Klein of the Fond du Lac Police Department.

The driver, 88-year-old Helen Immel of Fond du Lac, running from Main Street to Second Street and told agents that she did not see.

Klein said the car was about 70 meter below the child. Several witnesses, including Fond du Lac City Inspector Lydell Weir, lifted the rear of the vehicle to remove the girl. The mother had minor injuries.

The child is conscious and alert, but facial injuries. Klein said an ambulance took her to St. Agnes Hospital, and she was transported to the hospital children.

Immel said Klein had already careless driving and not to the right of way for pedestrians and obtain damages. Studies continue.

Police and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation officials will also consider whether to retain Immel license.
